It's Seminar Time!

Yeehaa,

In just 10 days it's on!

What's on you say?

World Internet Summit Australia of course... one of my favourite seminars of the year!

Here's why I love seminars and the WIS in particular...

1) You get to learn from the best. That's right... the guys speaking at these events are some of, if not the best in the business. If you have any inkling of wanting to make money on the internet then this is one of the few events you HAVE to be at. I learnt so much info from WIS last year that despite working all year, I still haven't got it all implemented in my business.

2) You get to meet hundreds of people trying to achieve the same thing as you. You'll meet people who are having the same troubles and successes as you. You'll meet people who are just starting and can use your help. You'll meet and get to personally talk to some of the best in the business. And best of all... you'll get to meet people who will PAY you to help them make more money or team up with you to make money together.

In my case, if people are smart, they'll nab me quick to write their copy before I'm flooded with too many people to be able to service. ;)

Examples of Testing

G'Day my friend,

Today I'm going to talk about something that despite it's immense power, still seems to be majorly missed by 95% of direct response marketers and copywriters.

EVERYONE knows about it!

EVERYONE will tell you they do it!

But the truth is that almost everyone I know (yes I said everyone) fails to use this one little technique - that has more power than a nuclear bomb - to it's full potential.

What is it?

I'm sure some of you have already guessed!

TESTING & MEASURING.

That's right! No doubt you've heard of it and probably used this technique yourself if you have any knowledge of direct response marketing and copywriting.

But... I'll bet you haven't even used it to 1/10th of it's full potential.

Most people test a few headlines and think they are testing and measuring their campaign.

Some others will try different offers and think they're getting the best results they can.

A few really shrewd people will be testing all sorts of different Google Adwords ads and playing "beat the control" to get the top response they can.

None of them have even gone to close to far enough if they want to squeeze every $ of profit out of their campaign that they can!

Let me use a product I'm just launching as an example.

Here's the things I've tested so far...

Best name for the product

Best Price point

Best keywords

Best Google Adwords Ad out of 3 different types of ad

Best headline

and I HAVEN'T EVEN RELEASED THE PRODUCT YET!

I have done all this BEFORE making the product available so that I know exactly how much it will cost me to get each customer, what their lifetime worth will be to me (how much they'll spend with me over time), how much of the product I'll sell daily and so on.

The best part is that this product is going to be a raging success... and I haven't even done 1/100th of the tweaking I can do yet!

I've still got about 10 different areas to test on the sales letter, a bunch more Adwords ads to run to try and improve response and a load of different channels to advertise on now I know the product will sell well.

Now some of you may be asking WHY I would do all that... and the answer is simple.

To make as much profit as possible and know EXACTLY how much that amount of profit will be.

Wouldn't you like to have that sort of knowledge in your business before you spend any money of anything?

Think about it... and see what new ways you can come up with to test and measure for maximum response and sales in YOUR business.

How I got my start... and the importance of learning from the best.

G'Day friend,

Today I wanted to get started putting some real content on my blog so that everyone who reads it takes something away they can immediately put to use to increase results and profits in their own businesses.

But before I get into my lesson for the day I want to take a sec to tell you how I got started as a Direct-Response Copywriter and Marketing consultant.

September 2004...

I'd never even heard of "direct response copywriting", "direct response marketing" or anything else to do with these subjects.

In fact, not only had I not ever heard of them but up until then... I had absolutely NO INTEREST in them.

All that changed when I decided I wanted a change in career.

I went and bought every money-making magazine I could get my hands on and checked out every ad and free report I could get.

I wanted to know what the entrepreneurs did to make money apart from the obvious subjects or real estate etc. and with a little work I quickly found.

In quick order I learnt of "direct response marketing" and how this type of marketing was easily the most profitable way of marketing products and making money.

This then led me to copywriting which is essentially "salesmanship in print" - the ability to put words on a page, website or whatever else... and MAKE PEOPLE BUY.

Upon discovering "direct response copywriting" my whole world changed.

The people who introduced me to this world were the men who would become my mentors - Brett McFall (Australia's top marketer and copywriter) and Alan Forrest Smith (the U.K's premium copywriter and marketer).

To cut a long story short... I was so impressed with their advertising and copywriting skills about an "Advertising Masterclass" that they were holding that I decided then and there that I needed to learn how to do what they had done to me... compell me to buy!

So that's what I did. A 25,000 mile round trip and $20,000 later and I'd travelled to England and back and spent 4 days with these two masters of copywriting and marketing.

In just those 4 days I learnt skills that put me at a level above 99% of "marketing experts" out there.

To demonstrate this was the fact that within 3 months of leaving that class I had over $90,000 worth of copywriting jobs booked for the coming months.

From nothing on the 8th of January when I left their company... to Ninety Thousand dollars just a few months later as a result of what they'd taught me!

And that my friend brings me to my lesson and tip for the day...

If you want to get good at anything - no matter what it is - the first and most important thing you can and will ever do to help you acheive that goal is...

DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO PERSONALLY MEET AND LEARN FROM THE VERY BEST PEOPLE IN THAT BUSINESS OR INDUSTRY IN THE WORLD.

And I really mean that... do WHATEVER YOU HAVE TOO.

Trust me when I say it pays off.

If you want to be a great marketer... get to marketing events held by the best marketers.

If you want to be a great soccer player... get to soccer camps and play with the best players.

You get my drift.

Honestly, if there was any one tip or lesson that I had to teach anyone just starting out (no matter what the industry) this would be it.

Take it on board and apply it and you'll be all the better for it.

As 2005 disappeared...

An incredible New Year has begun!

Already 2006 is lined up to be bigger and better than 2005 and I'm just getting started.

Unfortunately due to having such a massive year last year with my copywriting and marketing business I didn't do a very good job of keeping my blog updated.

And as you didn't get to see all the incredible things I'd been up to... I'm going to go out of my way to make it up you this year.

I travelled all over the world last year learning from some of the best marketers and copywriters in the world and as a result my business experienced fantastic levels of growth.

I'm really looking forward to helping you experience the same incredible growth in your business in 2006.
